In-form Town odds-on to progress

The Town are short-priced favourites with Blue Square to get their name in the hat for the second round of the FA Cup by beating Nuneaton Town.

Paul Buckle’s side are 2/5 to progress to the next stage of the world’s most famous cup competition and go into the tie off the back of six wins from their last seven matches.

That sequence included a 2-0 victory over Saturday’s visitors when two fine goals from Alex Lawless in the final five minutes gave the Hatters three hard-earned points.

Since that result the Town have won at Cambridge at Forest Green, whilst Nuneaton have dropped to the foot of the Blue Square Bet Premier table.

Boro, who beat AFC Telford in a replay to book their spot in the first round, are 7/1 to win the tie, whilst the draw is a 3/1 chance.

It’s worth noting that the Town were a shorter price to win the league fixture with Blue Square three weeks ago at 30/100.

Backers of the Hatters that day were rewarded thanks to Lawless’ late show, as were followers of this column who backed the Town in the handicap market.

It was odds-on three weeks ago that the Hatters would triumph giving Nuneaton a one-goal head-start, whereas this week they are odds against at 6/5 – a price well worth latching on to.

And, with the Buckle’s boys in confident mood, goals are sure to be on the menu and a 5-0 win can be backed at 33/1 to continue the Town’s excellent form.
