Back the Town with Blue Square at Forest Green
It’s third versus fifth on Saturday as the Town head to Forest Green and, after a run of five wins from six matches in all competitions, Paul Buckle’s side are favourites to win at the New Lawn with league sponsors Blue Square.
The Hatters, who are 11/8 to record all three points, have won two and lost one of their three previous visits to the Gloucestershire venue and visit for the fourth time full of confidence off the back of two successive 2-0 victories.
Rovers meanwhile are 13/8 to notch their first win in league action in four games having lost their last three fixtures in the Blue Square Bet Premier. The draw is a 12/5 chance.
FGR boss Dave Hockaday will take heart from a 4-1 win at Dartford in an FA Cup replay on Tuesday, a tie watched by Buckle, as well as the 3-0 hammering his team handed out to the Hatters last March at the New Lawn when the two sides last met.
That defeat for the Town ended their unbeaten record against Rovers but, as Alan Neilson said at Thursday’s press conference, it was a night when the team were not at the races. That said, the Hatters had their chances in the first half with ex-Rover Stuart Fleetwood going close in the early stages. Top scorer Fleetwood is the 4/1 favourite to net the opener on Saturday.
Blue Square go 25/1 that Forest Green can win 3-0 once more whilst the Town are 7/1 to record a third 1-0 victory at the New Lawn. But we like the look of Blue Square’s 16/1 about a 3-1 victory for the Hatters as they look to continue their fine form away from Kenilworth Road that has seen them win six and lose twice in eight games on the road so far this term.
The Hatters have also had a penchant for giving their opponents the lead this season and, with that in mind, Blue Square go 7/1 that Buckle’s side win the game having trailed at any point in the game.
