Three Luton Town players are currently away on international duty with their national teams.

  • Amari'i Bell plays in Jamaica's win over Suriname
  • Allan Campbell named on first senior Scotland teamsheet
  • Elliot Thorpe set for Wales U21 Euro qualifying double header

Two Hatters have featured on the teamsheet for their countries in Nations League matches in the last two days, with Amari’i Bell winning a sixth cap for Jamaica while triple player of the year winner Allan Campbell’s wait for his first senior Scotland appearance goes on.

Left-back Amari’i linked up with the Reggae Boyz for their CONCACAF Nations League Group A double header against Suriname, and although the 28-year-old did not feature in the 1-1 away draw at the weekend, he played the full 90 minutes in a 3-1 win in Kingston in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Derby midfielder Ravel Morrison opened the scoring with a stunning free-kick, and although Suriname quickly equalised, Junior Flemmings restored the hosts’ lead before half-time before Bournemouth forward Jamal Lowe added the third in the second half.

The win leaves Jamaica top of their group on four points, ahead of their opponents on one point. Their next group game is against Mexico on Tuesday June 14, early Wednesday British time.

Allan was called up to the Scotland squad as a late replacement for injured Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack, and although the 23-year-old wasn’t named among the subs for the World Cup qualifying play-off against Ukraine last week, he was on the bench for Wednesday’s UEFA Nations League win over Armenia.

The midfielder, the third-highest capped Under-21 player for his country with 24, did not make it on the pitch as Steve Clarke’s side ran out 2-0 winners, but he will be hoping to get that debut senior appearance in the two Nations League B Group 1 games they have coming up next week.

The Scots face the Republic of Ireland in Dublin on Saturday, before travelling to Armenia for Tuesday’s return. Both of those matches are 5pm kick-offs.

Young midfielder Elliot Thorpe has joined up with the Wales Under-21 squad ahead of their UEFA Under-21 qualifying matches against the Netherlands and Gibraltar in Llanelli.

The Welsh youngsters take on the Dutch at Parc Y Scarlets on Saturday, then Gibraltar at the same venue on Tuesday with both fixtures kicking off at 5pm.

Elliot, 21, who joined the Hatters after leaving Tottenham Hotspur last September, will be hoping to make his second start for his country at U21 level having played in the 1-1 draw against Bulgaria in March.

Good luck to all three Hatters over the coming days!
