Manager Rob Edwards wants to make Kenilworth Road a ‘really difficult’ place for opponents, starting on Boxing Day for the visit of Norwich City.

Home form was a big part of the Hatters’ success in reaching the play-offs last season and despite only losing twice this term, Edwards has his eyes on adding to the two victories so far.

After an interrupted start to his tenure, the boss is hoping to make his second competitive match in charge a memorable one, especially with it being his first in front of the home supporters.

“We all love our football at Christmas, Boxing Day under the lights, Norwich City coming here, I think it’s really exciting for us,” Edwards said during his pre-match press conference. “Whoever it was going to be, we’re going to aim to make it as difficult as possible for them but they’re one of the top teams in the league so it’s a great challenge for us and one that we should really look forward to.

“We will concentrate on ourselves and especially when we’re here at Kenilworth Road. We want to make it a really difficult place for anyone to come, we want everyone to feel that vulnerability when our fans are in full voice and we’re hopefully playing an aggressive style of football. We want to make it difficult for any team that comes here, and Norwich will be no different. We will respect them, of course we will, because they have good players and they’re a good team. But we’re going to have a right good go and we’re really looking forward to it.”

Dan Potts and Cauley Woodrow were able to get valuable minutes in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Arsenal on Wednesday afternoon, and the gaffer spoke of the need to use his squad in the coming matches.

“We’ve had one league game so far in however many weeks we’ve been here, so those next three games do give us a little bit time to look at the group and there probably will be some changes in those games, they come so quickly.

“After not having a lot of games, to go to three games in six days is going to be difficult so we will need to try and use a lot of the group in that week to try and keep things fresh, keep that energy and keep the way we want to be able to play. We will be asking too much of the same eleven to go and do that in all three games.”
