Luton Town Football Club would like to publicly thank five players who will leave the club as their current contracts come to an end tomorrow.

Departing Kenilworth Road immediately are goalkeeper Marek Stech, defenders Frankie Musonda, Donervon Daniels and Lloyd Jones, along with forward Jake Jervis.

Marek arrived from Sparta Prague in the summer of 2017 and became an instant fans’ favourite with some fantastic saves as the Hatters won promotion from League Two. He was named in the PFA team of the season, before helping the Town win the League One title last season. He departs having made 49 appearances in his three years as a Hatter.

Frankie, 22, came through the academy having joined at the age of eight in 2006. Famously winning the Aarau Masters as an Under-11 in 2009, he went on to captain the U18 team that reached the FA Youth Cup quarter-final in 2015-16 as well as winning an EFL Youth Alliance league and cup double.

Nathan Jones handed him his senior debut away to Mansfield early in his first spell in charge in 2016, and he went on to make 14 senior appearances, scoring once in the Checkatrade Trophy win at Gillingham in August of the same year, before gaining valuable experience during loan spells in the National League with Oxford City, Braintree Town, Hemel Hempstead Town and St Albans City.

Donervon scored one goal – a memorable one in the January win over Derby – having signed just before the transfer deadline last summer. The 26-year-old was loaned to Doncaster Rovers for the first half of the campaign, but came back to Luton at the turn of the year and made four appearances in the Championship and FA Cup.

Lloyd and Jake both helped the Town complete the League Two promotion having signed on deadline day of the January transfer window in 2018. Lloyd, 24, made 14 appearances after arriving from Liverpool, scoring once in the Carabao Cup win over Ipswich earlier this term. He has enjoyed spells out on loan at hometown club Plymouth and Northampton Town, where he played seven times leading into Lockdown.

Jake, 28, signed for the Town from Plymouth on the same day as Lloyd and also scored once – in the Carabao Cup win at Cardiff last August – in 14 appearances. The forward has spent the vast majority of the last two seasons on loan at AFC Wimbledon and Salford City.

We also say farewell to two second-year scholars, with midfielder Josh Boorn and forward Jonas Kalonda leaving the club after serving their apprenticeship.

Everyone at Kenilworth Road would like to wish those seven players every success in their future career. They have all played a part in the club’s progression, whether they have been here for a single season, or for 15 years like Frankie – who we are proud to call ‘one of our own’.

We can confirm that our other players whose original contracts were due to expire on June 30th – Luke Berry, Jacob Butterfield, Danny Hylton, Elliot Lee, Callum McManaman and Glen Rea – will remain part of the Town squad for the duration of the extended season.

Discussions with the parent clubs of our loan players – Luke Bolton, James Bree, Izzy Brown and Cameron Carter-Vickers – to extend their current deals for this season are ongoing and will be concluded ahead of the deadline of Friday 3rd July.

From the academy, we are delighted to announce that defender Avan Jones has accepted a first professional contract and will continue his development in the Under-23 set-up alongside fellow young pros Jake Peck, Corey Panter, Josh Neufville, Sam Beckwith and Tiernan Parker, who will all remain at the club.

Congratulations also to seven of our Under-16 squad who have been offered scholarships with the academy – Josh Allen, Eddie Corbitt, Aidan Francis, Ed McJannet, Tyrelle Newton, Josh Swan and Adam Wedd.
