Hatters goalkeeper Simon Sluga has been called up by Croatia for the first international matches of the 2020-21 season, when he will have the opportunity to face world stars including Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappé!

The 27-year-old, who returned to his home country for his wedding to Anamarija immediately after the 3-2 win over Blackburn that ensured Championship survival, has been selected for the Vatreni’s UEFA Nations League fixtures against Portugal and France.

Croatia take on Portugal at Porto’s Estádio do Dragão on Saturday 5th September, before travelling to Paris to face France in the Stade de France on Tuesday 8th, and Simon’s continued presence in Zlatko Dalić’s squad is just reward for his fine form in 2020, both before Lockdown - when he made the crucial save in the last few seconds to earn a point at Wigan (pictured below) - and after the restart.

The club’s record signing kept six clean sheets in the last 15 matches of his first campaign in English football to help the Town pull off the Great Escape, earning a nomination for the Sky Bet Championship player of the month award for June.

Everyone at Kenilworth Road would like to congratulate Simon on both the call-up and his marriage!
