He said: “It was a case of speaking to my agent yesterday – it has come about pretty fast and then obviously got sorted today, but I am really happy to be here, I can’t wait to get started.
“I think there’s three or four boys [I know], there’s a good Barnsley connection between the players who have played at Barnsley and now at Luton – so I definitely know a few of them. They know what they’re getting with me.
“I played my best football when I came up with Barnsley – we had a really good, strong team. Then I moved to Aston Villa – things haven’t quite gone my way there, but I have had a good few appearances there and Ipswich last season, so I have got plenty of experience in my bag and in my locker. Hopefully I can show it this year.
“I have played in the Championship now for two, three seasons, I know what it’s about, it’s hard-work every week, it’s a battle. But, with a bit of quality in your team you can go far.
“I think it was an obvious choice for me to come and play Championship football here. I spoke to Graeme on the phone and he was really welcoming, he made me feel at home, he made me feel like he wanted me. It was an obvious decision as soon as I spoke to him.”
