Luton Town Football Club and 2020 Developments have received some fantastic news this afternoon with the Secretary of State writing to Luton Council to confirm that the plans for the mixed-use development at Newlands Park will NOT be called in!

Council leader Sian Timoney shared the news on social media after receiving the letter below.

After those historic nights at the Town Hall in January and March when the plans for Power Court and Newlands Park were passed by the Council, we are now another step closer to being able to deliver our new stadium and developments that will help regenerate the town.

“This is wonderful news – a giant leap forward for Luton,” said CEO Gary Sweet. “This is not only a testament to the detail and manner with which Luton Council has painstakingly assessed this application, but proof that both Newlands Park and Power Court are absolutely the right plans for Luton at the right time.

“Whilst we're not quite over the line yet, we're thrilled that the Secretary of State has backed us and the Council with this decision.

“There is still a lot of work to be done and we know it’s something we’ve asked for in abundance already, but patience is still needed. We thank everyone for the fantastic support we have received so far.”
