Danny and Nathan both delighted with contract extension

Hatters boss Nathan Jones and striker Danny Hylton faced the local media this lunchtime following the announcement that the top scorer had signed a contract extension to the summer of 2019.

Hylton has 14 goals so far this season, and Jones said: “He’s not surprised us in any way. He’s done exactly what it said on the tin. We knew we were getting that type of player. On the pitch he’s been a revelation. For me, he’s the best in the league.

“I wouldn’t swap him for any other player, and again, that’s not being disrespectful to any other player in the league. But to me he’s the most important player in the league.

“I love his character, the way he is around the boys, the boys love him and he’s done fantastically well.”

Asked what it feels like to hear such praise from his manager, Hylton said: “Of course, it’s nice. I’ve just got to make sure I keep trying to play well to make sure he doesn’t backtrack!

“I appreciate it. It’s nice. It gives you confidence and a bit of a lift, so I’ll just keeping trying to go out and perform.”

The 27-year-old added: “I’m really enjoying my time here. It’s only been a short while but I love it here. The staff, the manager, the players – it’s an enjoyable place to come in and work every day. I think the club’s going places and I want to be part of that.”
