Tiernan Parker, 15, links up with Northern Ireland U17 squad
We are delighted to announce that young Hatters goalkeeper Tiernan Parker has been selected to represent Northern Ireland Under-17s in three upcoming UEFA Championship Qualifying Round ties.
It is the Town’s Under-16s keeper’s third call-up, having made his debut for the Irish Under-15s against Scotland last January and then being selected for the Under-16s in April.
Despite having only turned 15 last month, Tiernan now steps up to the Under-17 squad and he flew out to Belfast this morning to meet up with his international colleagues in preparation for Monday’s game against Spain at Lurgan’s Mourneview Park (7.30pm kick-off).
On Wednesday night they face Slovakia at Seaview in Belfast, before returning to Lurgan to host San Marino next Saturday in a 3pm kick-off.
Hatters Academy & Development manager Andy Awford told lutontown.co.uk: “We are all really pleased Tiernan has had another call-up. It’s great for him and the club.
“International football can only help his overall development as a player and person, and we wish him well for the period he’s over there.”
Good luck Tiernan from all at Kenilworth Road!
