Jones delight at third win on the spin

Town boss Nathan Jones was happy with what he described as a “more complete” performance after watching his side make it four wins in five games with a 1-0 win over Morecambe.

Jack Marriott’s goal 14 minutes from time secured the Hatters back-to-back wins at Keniworth Road for the first time since September.

“I asked them for something after the weekend and they gave it to me,” Jones said afterwards. “I felt we were always in control of the game – all but a little bit more composure in the final third to make us comfortable.

“But I’m pleased about how we went about our work, how we moved the ball and how we pressed. The players have given me everything and I’m proper, proper delighted and so happy for them.

“I think – no, I know – that we deserved that.”

Although the Town scored three times at York on Saturday, Jones took more satisfaction from Tuesday’s triumph.

He said: “Defensively we weren’t brilliant at the weekend but we had a real cutting edge going forward. This was a far more complete performance.

“I was happy with how we went about it and controlled the game.

“I asked them to play, and remember we haven’t been together for a short time, and I’m proud of the players and I thought we thoroughly deserved to win.”
