Hatters announce two-year deal with Luton-based firm for new Puma kits

Following on from the excitement of EFL Cup draw that will see Aston Villa as the first visitors to Kenilworth Road in 2016-17, Luton Town are delighted to announce two new partnerships today for the kit the Hatters will wear next season.

The Town are excited to reveal that SsangYong Motor UK Ltd are to be our shirt sponsor for the next two years, with an option for two more beyond the initial deal’s expiry in 2018.

SsangYong Motor UK Ltd has been based in Luton for 13 years and is the licenced distributor of the SsangYong brand in the UK. It has a network of 60 dealers and is looking to open a brand new showroom at their recently expanded Luton headquarters to coincide with the announcement of the link-up with the football club.

SsangYong’s logo will appear on the front of shirts supplied by Puma, who have agreed a partnership that will see the Hatters become one of 26 professional British football clubs wearing the German sportswear company’s kit.

Premier League champions Leicester City, runners-up Arsenal and Sky Bet Championship title winners Burnley will all sport Puma strips in English football’s top division next season.

“It’s fantastic to have a global brand like SsangYong on board along with an established name in sportswear suppliers in Puma,” said Hatters chief executive Gary Sweet.

“SsangYong have been supporters of the football club for a while and boast many Kenilworth Road regulars among their workforce.

“They are determined to strengthen the links with the community in Luton, and are keen to support all of our teams from Nathan’s lads in League Two right through to the ladies and community teams we run.

“We have a few exciting mutual synergies between us which we’re looking to explore over the next few years.

“On behalf of the players, supporters and everyone at the club, I’d like to welcome both SsangYong and Puma to the Luton Town family at what is a very exciting time for the football club and the area as a whole.”

Paul Williams, CEO of SsangYong Motor UK Ltd, said: “I am delighted to be entering in to a partnership with Luton Town. I believe that both SsangYong Motor UK Ltd and Luton Town can look forward to sustained growth over the next few years and beyond.

“I was very excited when Gary first showed me the plans for not only a new ground at Power Court but also the mixed use development at Newlands Park. It will be of a real benefit to both the town and the club.

“As an employer we have been based in Luton since 2003 and have seen significant growth during the past three years. We have committed our future to the town by signing a long term lease on our premises at the Airport Executive Park.

“We have a mainly Luton based workforce and as such we are delighted to work in partnership with both the football club and the town as we continue to grow.”

The Hatters’ partnership with NICEIC and ELECSA will continue as back of shirt sponsors on the orange home and white away strip respectively.

The Town’s new third kit for 2016-17 is purple, the same colour as Luton Borough Council’s new branding, and the club are delighted to donate the back of shirt sponsorship space to the Love Luton campaign.

We would also thank NICEIC and ELECSA for their support with this gesture, as well as their continuing sponsorship on shirts that have been approved by Luton Town Supporters’ Trust as part of the image rights agreement in place with the football club.

*The new Puma and SsangYong kits will be available to pre-order online from hattersworld.co.uk from this evening (Friday). Training wear is available to buy at the club shops at Kenilworth Road Stadium and the Mall Shopping Centre from this afternoon, and online this evening.
