Teenager's delight at penning his first professional deal
Akin Famewo became the latest member of last season's successful Luton Town youth team to sign his first professional contract yesterday.He spoke to lutontown.co.uk at Ely Way shortly after putting pen to paper, and told us about coming on as a substitute at half-time of the 9-0 win at Bedford on Saturday.
Famewo said: "Coming on the pitch I was just excited to be there, kicking the ball around for the first team and to show my face to everyone who doesn’t know about me.
"But going on, I had to think ‘I’m coming on, we’re 4-0 up, let’s not concede - let’s not be the guy who comes and suddenly Bedford have scored’.
"It was a pressure but it was one that I feel that I handled well, and it was a good experience again."
