Hatters head to neighbours for first game on home soil

Tomorrow sees the Hatters in action on English soil for the first time this pre-season when Nathan Jones takes his boys to face our neighbours Bedford Town.

The Eagles, currently managed by Jon Taylor, finished 14th in the Evo-Stik League Southern Division One Central last season.

Jones will take a strong first-team squad to the ground most local to thousands of Hatters fans for the first friendly of our five-season agreement to visit the Eyrie in pre-season, with the exception of long-term injured trio Danny Green, Craig Mackail-Smith and Nathan Doyle.

Centre-half Scott Cuthbert will also be missing as he continues his recovery from a slight hamstring strain, although he is likely to be involved in a game next week.

Goalkeeper Christian Walton is hoping to build on the clean sheet he kept on his Hatters debut in Hungary last Saturday, when he played the opening half of the goalless draw with Paksi FC.

“That’s the main thing, isn’t it, keeping the ball out of the net,” the 20-year-old signed on a season-long loan from Brighton told lutontown.co.uk. “Hopefully I’ll do the same again on Saturday and get another good amount of time under my belt, settling in with the new back four that we’ve got here at the club.”

The game kicks off at 3pm and admission prices are £7 for adults and £4 for concessions and Under-21s.Children aged from 10 to 15 years can get in for £1, with Under-10s going FREE.

If you can't get to the Eyrie, we will be tweeting live updates and will have a report, pictures and reaction online on lutontown.co.uk post-match.

BEDFORD RIVER FESTIVAL

The game coincides with the annual Bedford River Festival, where Luton Town Football Club will be represented by colleagues from Luton Town Community Trust and the club’s retail team, so why not tie it in with your visit to The Eyrie.

Make sure you visit our stand where you’ll be able to enter a draw to win family tickets to the upcoming games against Brighton, Walsall and Aston Villa – and test your shooting skills in our ‘Speed-Kick Challenge’!
