Right-back eyeing home improvements

Town defender Stephen O’Donnell says tonight’s game against Yeovil gives the Town the chance to bounce back from Saturday’s defeat to Yeovil – and help begin to make Kenilworth Road a fortress.

The Hatters have only won three times in League 2 on home soil this season with the weekend defeat to Notts County their seventh in 14 matches at Kenilworth Road.

And O’Donnell insists the players can get past the anxiety playing in front of the home faithful ahead of this evening’s game against a Yeovil side who have only won twice on their travels this term.

“We’ve got Tuesday night to put on the same display,” said the right-back. “But hopefully we can keep a clean sheet and set out to get two, three, four goals.

“I felt Saturday was a much more positive, attacking brand of football and hopefully we can carry that on. I thought that was as creative as we’ve been at home for a long while.

“It’s up to us as players to rise above any anxieties of playing at home. Against Cambridge we were organised, but now we just need to put the two dimensions together and I’m sure we can make Kenilworth Road a fortress.

“For a team that have under-performed for that crowd [over 8,000 witnessed the Notts defeat] to be there for was flattering, it’s unbelievable.

“We need to give them something to cheer positively and we’ll see where that can take us.

“We’re trying to learn and if we continue to keep improving I’m more than confident we can rise up the table.”
