Boss on Town's task to gatecrash top seven

The curtain will come down on the Town’s first season back in the Football League on Saturday against Stevenage – unless they can over-turn the odds and reach the Play-Offs by beating Boro and hoping Shrewsbury stuff Plymouth.

John Still’s side need to eat up an eight-goal swing against Stevenage to gatecrash the top seven and sneaking into the end-of-season lottery.

The boss guided his former club Dagenham & Redbridge to League 2 Play-Off glory back in 2010 having finished seventh and Still isn’t entirely ruling out the Town’s appearance this year. After all, where there’s hope…

“I wouldn’t know what the odds are but they would be stacked against us,” admitted the Hatters manager at his Thursday press conference at Kenilworth Road.

“It’s not impossible though and as a manager I have to believe that things can happen.

“I don’t know how many years ago, but we (Dagenham & Redbridge) broke the record in the Play-Offs and won 6-0 against a Morecambe side that were higher in the Play-Offs than we were.

“So from that point of view, it is possible, but is it likely? I don’t really know. All we can do is go out and see what we can do.”
