Town support hit the road in numbers...again

The biggest attendance of the League 2 season so far is expected at Fratton Park on Saturday as almost 3,000 Hatters fans make the trip south to Portsmouth.

Pompey have averaged 15,100 for home games at Fratton Park this season, with the 17,558 crowd against AFC Wimbledon their biggest gate of the season so far.

With all 2,689 tickets in the away end snapped up in less than week earlier this month for the Hatters’ first trip to Portsmouth since 1995, a bumper crowd is expected.

“I can’t wait, it’s going to a proper atmosphere,” Hatters boss John Still at his press call on Thursday. “Portsmouth get great crowds but I’m sure we are one of only a few clubs in this league who would sell out their allocation for this match. I’m really looking forward to it.”

No extra tickets will be available to Hatters supporters on the day at Fratton Park, so those supporters without tickets are urged not to travel. It will be the biggest contingent of supporters the Hatters will take away so far this season, eclipsing the 2,566 fans who saw the 1-1 draw at Wycombe on Boxing Day.

To those travelling, have a safe trip and get behind the team! #COYH
