Injury latest from John Still

The Town could have striker Paul Benson back for Saturday's trip to Portsmouth.

Benson, who spent a spell on loan at Fratton Park two seasons ago, came through a second lot of 90 minutes for the development squad during the week - just four months after breaking his leg in the win against Mansfield.

Winger Ryan Hall, signed in January, is also back in the mix for a place in the squad having played twice in the development squad in the last fortnight after overcoming illness.

Whether the former Dagenham man will be in the squad is another matter, but one man who definitely won't be will be midfielder Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu, who the manager explained has suffered a set-back in his recovery from a hamstring injury.

"Pelly was fit, he was training but it's been one step forward, three steps back," Still said at his Thursday press call. "He's gone to see a specialist on his hamstring and he's been told it is affecting his back."

Also unavailable for the Hatters' first trip to Fratton Park since December 1995 is goalkeeper Mark Tyler, who is close to returning from a knee injury, and midfielder Nathan Doyle, who is making good progress from his knee problem.

However, Still also explained that defender Scott Griffiths requires a hernia operation - although the left-back will still be able to feature until such time it becomes a problem.

For story to and video to follow over the course of the next two days.
