FIXTURES DAY SHIRT COMPETITION: THE RESULTS!

One lucky winner scoops match-worn shirt

Almost 1,000 Hatters fans entered our Fixture Release Day competition – but not one could correctly guess the Town’s opponents on three dates next season.

However, because we didn’t want a match-worn shirt to go to waste, we’ve found ourselves a winner from four entries that correctly guessed two of the three dates – the first and last day of the season matches plus Boxing Day.

So we put the names of the four into a boater hat…and plucked out Mark Cook’s name out at random. Mark predicted the Hatters would play Accrington on the first game and Wycombe on Boxing Day. He was one of three people who thought the same. The fourth name in the hat predicted Wycombe on Boxing Day and Exeter for the final game. Nobody predicted an Accrington/Exeter first/last combo.

Many congratulations to Mark – we’ll be in touch very soon!

Your guesses

Of the 914 fans who entered, the most popular guess of opposition for the opening match of the season was Bristol Rovers – with 10.3% of the votes. Only 22 people (2.4%) voted for the eventual outcome of Accrington.

For the final game, the guesses were more spread, with Notts County receiving the highest number of votes with 69 (7.5%). Only 31 people (3.4%) correctly chose Exeter, who the Town will play in the final match of the 2015/16.

Geography – and to some degree history – played a big part in the Boxing Day guesses with a whopping 20.8% (192 people) believing the Hatters would play Barnet on 26th December. Stevenage was the second-most popular guess with 12.3%, followed by Northampton with 11%. In the end Wycombe was the winner – with 69 votes (7.5%).

A big thank you to all those who entered…better luck next year!
