Boss hints changes afoot for Robins meeting

Manager John Still says he will tinker with the Town’s formation for Tuesday’s Capital One Cup first round tie against Bristol City at Kenilworth Road.

The Hatters take on Steve Cotterill’s Championship side three days after Jonathan Smith’s late equaliser earned a point at Accrington Stanley.

But for the League Cup meeting with the Robins the Town boss hinted at changes to the side to give other members of his squad minutes on the pitch.

Talking to lutontown.co.uk Still said: “We’re going to alter the system around a little bit and give an opportunity to some of those players who weren’t involved on Saturday.

“We did something similar last season against Swindon and we know it’ll be a tough game. These are the sorts of matches that you can really learn a lot from.

“We found when we matched up against Brentford in our recent friendly we were able to play in a way which helped us a find a result.

“Steve Cotterill has done a fine job and we know it’ll be a difficult game but this test will allow us to find a lot more about the squad and their capabilities.

“Playing against better quality players from a higher division will make our players better. Playing against Championship opposition so early in the season could really stand us in good stead for the rest of the campaign.”

The Town have no fresh injury worries for the game against City, who lost their opening game of the season 2-0 at Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend.
