Midfielder in contention for Shrimpers game

Town boss John Still could be able to call upon the services of Nathan Doyle for Saturday's match at Southend United.

The midfielder was last seen limping off with a calf muscle strain against Dagenham & Redbridge on 14th April - and Still said he hopes to have him back for the big game at Roots Hall.

Fellow midfielder Alex Lawless has recovered from a bout of shingles and is back in training, but he is not expected to return for the weekend.

The boss also explained that goalkeeper Mark Tyler is close to a return, but it is likely that Elliot Justham will continue in goal until Tyler is full fit.

With both the Hatters and Southend in need of the points as they chase a Play-Off and promotion place respectively, Still said he is expecting an exciting game at Roots Hall.

"Both teams will be going for it," he said at his Thursday press conference. "We need the points and we'll be going there to win."
