Punting perspective for Woking visit

The thing with strikers is they get annoyed when they don’t score. Nothing narks these goal-hungry men more than failing to bag.

When they don’t notch, or net, or add to their tally, they aint happy.

So imagine how Andre Gray and Paul Benson feel. They have hit 25 and 16 goals respectively so far this season but neither have hit the target in the Hatters’ last two games. They are probably, deep down, annoyed, and they are probably even more annoyed now we’ve made a point about it.

Now the last time Andre Gray went two games without scoring he blasted the Town in front after 90 seconds against Barnet on New Year’s Day. It was also the last time the Hatters were live on BT Sport and also, bizarrely, the first time in history that football was converted into a game of water polo.

Since that soggy first day of 2014 the wet weather has departed. The sun has even started shining - and the Town are still top of the league. However, unfortunately, they’ll be no sunshine this evening because the big red dot will be long gone over the horizon come kick-off for the Town’s televised match with Woking on BT Sport.

But expect a little ray of sunshine anyway. Why? Well, you know those shooting boots Andre Gray’s got? They’ll be back in business tonight. The Town’s top goalscorer is going to break the deadlock and score first and end this hugely annoying and arduous two-game goal drought of his. And once he that’s done the world will be restored to normality. You never know Andre might even go on and grab another. Why? Well, it's because that’s what strikers do.
