First pro deal for talented Smith
Last season's youth team captain Charlie Smith has penned his first professional contract with the Hatters.
Luton-born Smith, 18, who has been with the Town since he was nine, has signed a one-year deal. He netted 10 goals in 17 starts for Paul Driver’s Under-18s last season.
The midfielder has made three appearances in Luton colours, all of which have come in the FA Trophy. He made his debut for the Town against Hinckley in the competition in 2012 as a 16-year-old and played twice last season against Staines – setting up both goals in a 2-0 win.
John Still told lutontown.co.uk: “Charlie impressed me a great deal last season. Technically he is a very, very good player. I am excited when I see him on the ball. His passing and leadership ability make him a very influential player.
“The hard work for Charlie starts now, though, and we are looking forward to seeing Charlie continue his development.”
