Town to learn League Cup fate

The Hatters' name will be back in the hat for the League Cup draw for the first time in six years later this month ahead of the competitions's first round ties.

The draw for the first round of the Capital One Cup, as is it known as now, will take place on Tuesday 17th June with the matches announced at 10am, a day before the League 2 fixtures are released.

The Town, who won the Littlewoods Cup in 1988 and were runners-up a year later, enter at the first round stage, and will meet one of the 71 other clubs in the Championship, League 1 and League 2.

The Town last took part in the League Cup in 2008/09. After a 2-0 home victory over Plymouth Argyle in the first round, the Hatters exited the competition with a 5-1 defeat away at Reading.
