Striker well on the road to recovery

The highs and lows of the game were perhaps, sadly, best illustrated in the space of 600 seconds for Paul Benson in the Town’s 3-0 win over Mansfield last month.

On 19 minutes the 34-year-old had put the Hatters in front with his first goal in League 2 of the campaign. 10 minutes later he was being helped onto a stretcher and off to Accident & Emergency after an innocuous challenge when landing after an aerial challenge.

The incident, which left Benson nursing a broken left leg, happened three weeks ago, and, today, Benson is well on the way to recovery. Out of plaster and in a boot, there’s every chance he’ll be back to play a part in the Town’s promotion push in the New Year.

The Town striker spoke exclusively to Hatters Player before Saturday's win over Newport and you can watch a snippet of the interview with Paul, below, courtesy of our official YouTube channel. The interview will also be a feature in our issue of Talk of the Town for the Portsmouth game.
