Boss calm ahead of season opener

Expectation was always the word on the tip of people’s tongues during the Town’s five seasons in the Conference.

Now, following last season’s magnificent championship-winning season, the Hatters are back in the Football League but the expectation is mounting once again – something that John Still is well aware of – no matter who you are; Luton Town, Carlisle United – relegated last season of course – or any of the big boys in the Premier League.

“Expectation is at all levels now,” the boss said at his pre-match press conference on Thursday. “What will Manchester United supporters expect? What would Liverpool supporters expect? Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City?

“There’s an expectation, it’s growing all the time and even with the smaller clubs. Carlisle will have it.

“It’s how you deal with the expectation. Sometimes it’s too great and you have to try and match that.

“Not everyone will, some will be better and some will be less, for me, I just want to look back at my team and say we’ve fulfilled our potential.”
