New signings' desire to do well at Kenilworth Road

Latest Town recruits Jim Stevenson and Danny Fitzsimons are desperate to prove their worth at Kenilworth Road after signing from Histon on Monday.

The 21-year-olds penned two-year contracts with the Hatters following an excellent season with the Stutes that saw midfielder Stevenson finish top goalscorer and defender Fitzsimons win three end-of-season awards.

“I’ve had a good season but my goal is to improve, impress John Still and get in the team,” Stevenson told Hatters Player. “It’s been a great learning curve at Histon and I’m ready for the new challenge at Luton.

“Playing regular football at Histon from such a young age was good way to learn and it made me grow up quickly.

“Obviously Luton’s a massive club and I know I’ve got a lot of hard work ahead of me if I’m going to get in the team.

“Everyone wants to see Luton back in the league and the mindset is geared towards that, from the manager, the players, the staff and the supporters – and that’s a mindset I’ve now got.”

Left-footer Fitzsimons told Player: “I’ve come here to prove that I’m good enough. It’s the next step up from the Conference North.

“Since I first became a professional at QPR there have been a lot of ups and downs and rejections along the way, but I’ve worked hard, got a lot of experience and now I’ve come to Luton I want to push on and help the club win promotion.

“The past few years have been a big learning curve for me and I’m looking forward to proving to the manager and the supporters I can do well.”
