Boss on Hyde selection policy

Boss John Still admitted he will "tinker slightly" with the Town side that is set to face Hyde at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday night.

While he did not confirm which changes he would make, Still said he didn't think either returning defender Wayne Thomas or striker Scott Rendell - who sustained a nasty facial injury on Saturday - would be in the starting XI.

"They'll be little changes, I'll tinker it slightly," said the boss. "It won't be wholesale changes - I'm still trying to get a look at all the players we've got here. It'll be subtle changes again."

Still will remain without the services of defender Janos Kovacs and centre forward Jon Shaw, although the manager hopes the duo can play a part in Wednesday's development game away to Peterborough.

The manager was pleased with the second half performance against Hereford on Saturday, especially the high-tempo play in the second half, and wants more of the same on Tuesday.

"We're a long, long, long way from getting to where I want us to be but I saw a little bit of in that second half at the weekend," said Still at his pre-match press conference on Monday.

Still hopes his side can "grind down" a Hyde side who will be aiming to stop a run of six successive defeats. "They'll want a point, but we're at the stage of the season where they will be thinking about getting three points," said the manager.

"When teams make it difficult for you, especially at home, you need to keep working them and eventually you will grind them down. You mustn't let the opposition settle."
