PUNTING PERSPECTIVE: WOLVES

Town backed to beat Wanderers

The Town may be 3,000/1 to lift the FA Cup but that isn’t putting punters off backing Paul Buckle’s side to beat Championship Wolves in Saturday’s third round tie at Kenilworth Road.

Blue Square are not the only bookmaker to see a flood of money come for the Hatters this week as the odds on a cup shock have been cut dramatically from as big as 4/1 down to 5/2.

Wolves were odds on – 4/6 in places – in the early markets drawn up shortly after Christmas, but Stale Solakken’s out-of-form Wanderers are as big as even money for victory with Blue Square.

While the Hatters go into the tie looking to bounce back from a disappointing New Year’s Day defeat to Woking, Wolves on the other the hand have lost their last three games in the Championship and seven of their last 10.

Buckle’s side have won their last four home matches in succession in an upturn in fortunes in front of the home faithful - scoring 11 goals in the process – and, with the visitors under pressure to get a result, the Town are the value bet to get their name in the hat for the fourth round.

Former Wolves trainee Andre Gray is sure to be a popular selection given his recent form and the striker is 7/1 to score the opening goal against his hometown club. Gray is also 9/4 to score at any time.

And given the Town’s penchant for conceding the first goal – they’ve conceded the opener in half of their 30 matches in all competitions this season – it might be worth having an investment on the Hatters to win having conceded first at 11/1.

Recommendations:

Town to win 5/2
Andre Gray first goal 7/1

Our tipster is showing a £58.09 profit on his selections this season.
