Lawless 12/1 to repeat scoring feat

Followers of this column were rewarded once more when the Hatters sealed a stunning FA Cup victory over Wolves on Saturday.

Like the majority of the Town dressing room we were quietly confident of a victory and sure enough Alex Lawless’ goal ensured the 5/2 about a home win came in.

Tonight, however, attention turns back to the number one priority of promotion as the Hatters welcome bottom-of-the-table Barrow to Kenilworth Road.

The Bluebirds lost 2-0 at Kidderminster at the weekend but boast a better away record than home record this term, winning four and drawing three of their 12 games away from Holker Street.
However, the Town have been in fine form at Kenilworth Road, winning their last five – three of which have been by a two-goal or more margin.

Having exerted so much energy into beating Wolves there may be some tired legs out there but boss Paul Buckle has a strong squad to pick from – unlike his counterpart, former Hatter Dave Bayliss, who has a threadbare squad at his disposal.

The Town won this fixture last season 5-1, striking back from a goal down inside two minutes to convincing sweep the Bluebirds aside. Last term Barrow were safely positioned in mid-table and will be keen to leave Kenilworth Road with a point this evening.

That said if the Hatters can continue from where they left off against Wolves they should take all the beating.

League sponsors Blue Square have priced the Town at just 2/5 to collect all three points whilst Barrow can be backed at 6/1. The draw is a 16/5 chance.

The Town will be keen to get their noses in front as early as possible on a night which the visitors will look to keep things tight. The Hatters are in good form and high on confidence following Saturday’s victory and Blue Square go 7/4 that the first goal will be scored in the first 15 minutes.

At bigger prices, Alex Lawless is 12/1 to repeat Saturday’s feat by scoring the first goal of the game whilst a repeat of last season’s 5-1 win can be backed at 50/1.

Recommendations:

Town -1 on handicap 6/5
Andre Gray first goal 4/1
First goal scored inside first 15 minutes 7/4

Our tipster is showing a £73.09 profit on his selections this season.
