Back super Scott to be on the spot

The Town have been well backed ahead of tonight’s game at promotion rivals Newport County.

Paul Buckle’s side were trading at between 15/8 and 2/1 for victory at Rodney Parade but now find themselves as short as 13/8 to collect all three points with league sponsors Blue Square.

Newport come into the televised clash having won just twice in their last 10 matches in all competitions and - have lost four of their last five games. They meet a Town side unbeaten in their last six in all competitions.

Most worrying for Newport is that in those last 10 fixtures they have conceded 25 goals. Justin Edinburgh’s side have not kept a clean sheet in 11 games – a 1-0 home defeat of Ebbsfleet United.

County are still the 6/4 favourites with Blue Square to win the game but they have drifted in the market. The draw is a 12/5 chance.

It’s interesting to note that County have conceded three penalties in their past eight fixtures and with that in mind keep an eye on Scott Rendell in the first goalscorer market. Blue Square are a top price 15/2 for the former Wycombe man, who has an unblemished record of three out three from the penalty spot for the Hatters this season, to net first.

Remember you can help own wallet, the Hatters and the Football Conference by backing us through Blue Square. Visit www.bluesq.com/fans.

Recommendation:

Scott Rendell first goalscorer (each-way) 15/2
