Match Preview | Manchester City vs Luton Town

12 April 2024

Sponsored by

Luton Town head to the North West this Saturday as we face the Premier League champions Manchester City at Etihad Stadium.

Rob Edwards’ Hatters got back to winning ways last weekend after the dramatic late turnaround against AFC Bournemouth, which leaves us on level points with Nottingham Forest.

Pep Guardiola’s City are still in contention for another historic treble-winning season, despite Real Madrid standing in their way with a stalemate on Tuesday night in the Spanish capital.

This fixture is dedicated to No Room For Racism, a campaign which we are proud to support and the players will take the knee before kick-off.

The opposition

Erling Haaland celebrating his goal against Manchester United with Phil Foden.

Man City are unbeaten in their last 16 Premier League games, winning 12 and drawing four of them.

The hosts are unbeaten in their last 40 home games in all competitions, just two short of their all-time club record of 42 set between December 1919 and November 1921.

Kevin De Bruyne has been involved in nine goals from just 11 Premier League appearances this season, scoring three and assisting six. De Bruyne has been averaging a goal or assist every 75 minutes this term, the best rate of any player who has played at least 500 minutes.

Phil Foden has scored nine goals in his last nine Premier League games, with his 14 goals overall this season his best return in a single campaign.

Last time out

Carlton Morris celebrates his winner against Bournemouth.

Luton came from behind late on to claim a massive three points against Bournemouth last weekend.

Marcus Tavernier scored the opener just after half-time before Jordan Clark and Carlton Morris scored goals to complete the comeback.

Team news

Teden Mengi praying during the walkout against Bournemouth.

Centre-halves Teden Mengi and Reece Burke are doubtful to play at Etihad Stadium, while City loanee Issa Kaboré is ineligible to face his parent club.

The other ten injured players remain out for this fixture.

Officials

John Brooks refereeing at Kenilworth Road.

The referee for our fixture against Man City will be John Brooks.

128 yellow cards and six red cards have been handed out by Brooks across his 30 games this season.

We last had a game officiated by Brooks when we lost at Aston Villa back in October.
