Manager Matt Bloomfield is boosted by the return of three first-team players for Saturday’s short trip to Stevenage.

Defenders Teden Mengi and Nigel Lonwijk are back in contention for the League One fixture at Broadhall Way while striker Jerry Yates is available after completing concussion protocols that saw him substituted at Lincoln two weeks ago.

Bloomfield did admit there are a couple of questions marks over the fitness a couple of players in the squad after Tuesday’s draw at Blackpool but the Town boss also goes into the game against Boro buoyed by the performances of the substitutes that made an influence in the second half at Bloomfield Road.

“There will be a little bit of a selection headache and that’s good,” said Bloomfield at his Friday press conference.

“It’s been a busy week and we’re going to need fresh energy at Stevenage because they work hard and fight hard and will make it difficult for us.

“We need to come out strong from the first whistle and build an away performance.”

Bloomfield also had good news regarding the fitness of a number of players who continue to make good progress from their longer-term injuries.

Ali Al-Hamadi, Hakeem Odoffin, Isaiah Jones and Jacob Brown are all back on the grass as they work toward their return to action.
