The Ladies will be looking to pick up their third victory over Milton Keynes this season when the two sides face off for a place in the first round proper in the Women’s FA Cup.

WNL Plate update

The Hatters’ League Cup group stage concluded in a 4-0 defeat away at Oxford United last Sunday, which means despite the Ladies finishing on six points in Group M, they failed to qualify as one of the 10 best runners-up, resulting in their placement in the Women’s National League Plate.

The draw for the Plate was made on Monday evening, with the Town being drawn against London City Lionesses Academy. The tie will be played at Barton Rovers’ Sharpenhoe Road ground on Sunday 19th October at 2pm.

Last season’s FA Cup run

The 2024/25 edition of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup was one to remember for the Hatters. They kicked off their campaign with an emphatic 11-0 victory away at Chigwell Ladies, inspired by four goals from Tasha Fensome.

Fensome was on the scoresheet again in the third round qualifying, when a controlled display from the Town saw them defeat St Albans City Women 2-0 at Barton.

The Ladies then advanced to the second round proper courtesy of a 4-2 victory in Essex over Hutton Women. The home side took a 2-0 lead early on but the Ladies bounced back with Fensome netting for a third consecutive Women’s FA Cup match.

The second round proper was a game of high quality against Stevenage Women. Boro took the lead in the early stages but a screamer from Amber Leighton brought the Town back level going into half-time. Despite chances for both sides, the full-time whistle went, meaning an extra thirty was to be played. Extra-time failed to produce the decisive goal so the game went to penalties. After a mammoth 32-penalty shoot-out, the Ladies progressed to the third round proper with Sarah Hudson making the all-important save.

The cup run concluded in a battling display against Championship side Portsmouth. Second round hero Sarah Hudson made a series of world-class saves but ultimately Pompey Women’s Championship quality was on show as they progressed to the fourth round via a 5-0 victory.

Back the Town in Bedford

The Women’s FA Cup third round qualifying tie will be played at Bedford Town’s The New Eyrie.

The Ladies have had recent success at the ground, defeating Stevenage Women 3-0 in the League Cup final in May 2025, where they secured their League and League Cup double.

Kick-off is at 2pm, tickets available on the day with card payment only. Admission is adults for £8, under 18s £4 and under 12s £2.
