The Ladies will look to build on their hard-fought point last Sunday at Barton against title-chasing Norwich City, when they host relegation-threatened AFC Sudbury.
Last Sunday’s game also welcomed the return of forward Emily Wilson, who made a five-minute cameo after sitting out through injury since October of last year. Also out since October, Fiona Buttigieg completed her first 90 minutes of the year, while the Ladies’ stalwart defender, Tanya Blacksley, made her 150th first-team appearance.
Sasha Smith successfully underwent surgery midweek for an anterior cruciate ligament tear, sustained during the Town’s fixture against Milton Keynes Women in September 2025. Sasha has the full support of everyone at the club, as she enters her next stages of recovery, and we look forward to seeing her back on the pitch in due course.
The opposition
AFC Sudbury earned promotion to the FA Women’s National League during the 22/23 season after topping the ERWFL Premier Division table, finishing four points ahead of Luton Town Ladies, and have stayed in the fourth-tier ever since.
Although, this season threatens them with a return to tier-five. The Suds currently sit second-bottom in the Division One South East table, five points adrift from safety, with 12 games played.
Luke Mallett’s side are winless on the road this campaign, drawing one and losing three on their travels, only netting five times.
Myles’ pre-Sudbury thoughts
Ladies’ boss, Myles Maddix, gave his thoughts ahead of Sunday’s big game at Barton: “We’re going to do the same amount of preparation that we would for any game. We’re looking forward to it, we know it’s going to be a difficult game, both teams are around the bottom-half of the table, so everyone is looking for points. Of course we want to win and to do that, we must keep applying the pressure and keep moving in the direction we’re heading.”
