The Hatters Ladies lost their final game of the campaign going down 3-0 against Chatham but could celebrate a seventh place finish on their return to the fourth tier.

The Town looked lively in the opening moments. Shianne Swarres collected the ball in the centre of the pitch and spotted the run of Tasha Fensome in behind the Chatham defence and picked her out superbly, but Eligon was quick off her line to claim the ball.

As the Town surged forward, Emily Wilson was brought down on the edge of the area. Fiona Buttigieg stood over the ball and unleashed an effort, which was held by Eligon.

Taylor O’Leary spread the ball out to the right-hand side for Wilson to gather, but she was dragged to the floor by Jones and the Hatters were awarded another free-kick, but the Chats were able to deal with the delivery once more.

The Town came so close to an opener after 20 minutes played. Leah Robinson’s free-kick from inside her own area travelled the distance off the pitch and fell into the path of Fensome, who attempted to lob the oncoming Eligon, but was unfortunate to see her effort land wide of the post.

With five to play at the end of the first-half, Chatham took the lead. Otesha Charles powered a close-range effort past Robinson to give her side a one-goal advantage heading into the break.

And within minutes of the restart, Chatham doubled their lead. Amy Russ was on hand to convert from point-blank range.

It was a low key second half period from both sides, who failed to create any clear cut opportunities. That was until the visitors added a third late on. Karesha Iton gathered the ball in the area and on the turn finished past Robinson.
