Luton Town Ladies held their annual end of the season awards evening to celebrate their double-winning season one final time.
Tasha Fensome picked up two awards, the supporters’ player of the season and the Luton Town Ladies’ golden boot. Her goalscoring ability and unselfish play earned her the recognition of the Town’s fans. Fensome racked up 49 goal contributions in all competitions, with 32 of these being goals.
The young player of the season award went the way of Amber Leighton. The central midfielder joined the Hatters at the back end of the 2023/24 season and has since become a one of the first names on the teamsheet. One of her biggest moments this season came when scoring the winner in the 1-0 victory over Royston Town back in November.
Academy graduate Shanice Lewis was named players’ player of the season. Lewis excelled in multiple positions during the season as she helped the Hatters to the double.
Midfield maestro Shianne Swarres was named as the coaches’ player of the season. Her consistent performances throughout the season, as well as her quick-thinking and football IQ, has allowed her to make a huge impact on the team.
Goalkeeper Sarah Hudson also picked up an award. Hudson was awarded the ERWFL Premier Division Golden Glove. The Town stopper featured 30 times in all competitions and contributed to 18 of the Hatters’ 20 clean sheets through the course of the season.
Reserves’ success also recognised
The reserves also had a successful campaign, avoiding relegation and lifting the Women’s Junior County Cup.
Patience Ndlovu picked up a double, as she was named as the managers’ and players’ player of the season. The defender was an immense force at the back during the season and was a key figure in the County Cup triumph. Her performances also earned her call-ups to the first team squad.
Forward Sanam Shahid won the reserves’ golden boot, netting 11 goals across 16 games in all competitions.
Midfielder Caitlin O’Connor, was named as the young player of the season for her consistent performances throughout the campaign, with one of her highlights a 25-yard screamer in the 6-1 win over Watford.
Chloe Gibbs picked up the award for the reserves’ most improved player. A new recruit from the under-18s, Gibbs quickly found herself included in the reserves’ team, relishing her new role as a defender.
