
Another former England international with vast experience as a player, manager and coach at the highest level, who joined the Hatters after a brief spell as coach at Walsall in October 2025.
The 56-year-old was capped five times by his country as a left-back, while enjoying a playing career in which he made more than 750 appearances for clubs including Crystal Palace, Southend, Derby, Charlton, West Ham, Watford and Leicester City.
Since then he has managed Charlton, Huddersfield Town and Southend, as well as coaching at several clubs and being part of Gareth Southgate’s England staff at the Covid-delayed Euro 2020 tournament in 2021, and the Qatar World Cup in 2022.
His most recent roles were as Head of Academy at Spurs, alongside his England commitments, and two seasons as assistant-manager at Sheffield Wednesday, before his stint helping out at his local League Two club Walsall ended with the call to assist Jack Wilshere at Kenilworth Road.
