Left-sided flyer Alfie Doughty arrived at Kenilworth Road from Stoke City in the summer of 2022.
Alfie started his career with Charlton Athletic aged eight and progressed through the youth ranks before making his debut in the EFL Cup in 2018.
Shortly after that, he joined Isthmian League club Kingstonian on loan, where he made 16 first-team appearances, followed by a brief one-month spell at National League side Bromley.
Doughty returned to Charlton and became a regular under then-manager Lee Bowyer during the 2019/20 Championship season. He made 29 league appearances – scoring two goals and assisting three – and was voted as Charlton’s Young Player of the Year.
In January 2021, the Londoner joined Stoke City for an undisclosed fee. He made 11 sub appearances in the Championship and five starts in the cups for the Potters before a loan spell at Cardiff City in 2022, where he made a further nine appearances, scoring once.
In his first season with the Hatters, Alfie made 35 appearances and scored twice as we won promotion to the Premier League, before making 43 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring twice in the top-flight and providing eight assists.
Then, as the Town began life back in the Championship, Alfie put pen to paper on a new contract in September, committing his long-term future to the club.
