Following victory against Bournemouth on Saturday, confidence is rightly high going into the match at the Brentford Community Stadium, as well as a full understanding of the challenge that lies ahead.

The gaffer hopes to be able to call upon Tom Lockyer, who was forced off against the Cherries after the aerial incident that led to Jefferson Lerma’s red card.

“We’ve had to monitor him as it was a very nasty cut, wasn’t so much a concussion, but the bleeding was the problem that was then going into his eye," said Jones. "He couldn't see, so that was the issue really. No concussion protocol it was more the cut that was the problem on the day.”

And on the terrific result and performance against Bournemouth, Jones added: “We never get too high, never get too low here. We were disappointed with the result in midweek, bounced back on the weekend which was very good, but we realised that in a few days you’re back at a very difficult place to get a result.

“It was a good performance, they’re a very, very good side, and I know a lot has been said about their performance and they’re a good side, so for us to go there and get anything, as not many people go there and get anything from the Vitality.

“We knew we had to play well and we did," the manager continued. "We had our opportunities where we could have scored, but in the space of a month, we’ve played Bournemouth twice, kept two clean sheets and taken four points. I think pretty much everyone in the league would be happy with that.”

On to tomorrow’s match and Nathan is expecting another tough challenge against a team, who similarly to Bournemouth, are challenging for promotion.

“We’re up against quality sides all the time," he said. "What you have to add is consistency. To be consistent at the level we want to get to, you have to be is a level of confidence, a little bit of luck at time, but we’re only just over a year into the level, so we have to make sure we’re adapting to the level well and not doing anything silly and leaving trap doors.

“We are building. To be consistent over the level, Brentford have been at the level for a number of years. They’ve invested a lot of money, sold players and have a great model.

“They’re another one, a great example of a club that have adapted. Last season they got to the players and this year they’re big tips (for promotion). They take forward steps every year. They’re very well run and that’s what we want.

“We have a great board, great people around us, that want to develop, want to be at this level and keep making in-roads to climb the league.”
