Town manager Matt Bloomfield spoke to the local press this afternoon ahead of the return to Sky Bet League One action when Plymouth Argyle are the visitors to Kenilworth Road on Saturday.
The Hatters boss gave updates on squad fitness as George Saville, Nahki Wells and Marvelous Nakamba all return from international duty, with the latter having played his first 90 minutes of the season for Zimbabwe.
On the injury front, Bloomfield revealed that Danish defender Mads Andersen is available again after missing the last three league games with a tight hamstring, as is Teden Mengi who has been back in full training with the squad, but may need minutes in the U21s.
“The group is starting to come back to form and fitness and we are really pleased with the strength we are starting to get,” said Bloomfield.
Reuell Walters, however, has suffered a set-back in his bid to return from a groin problem that has kept him out for the past month and now faces an extended period on the sidelines.
But the manager gave positive updates on Ali Al-Hamadi, who is “working with the medical and sports science teams” but is not due to return imminently, as is also the case for Izzy Jones, Jacob Brown and summer signing Hakeem Odoffin.
“Hakeem is back out working individually on the grass, so he's progressing,” said Bloomfield. “It's a slow recovery for him because of the procedure he had in the summer, but he's progressing which is going to be great for him and for us when he's back.”
