Watch | James Bree on Hull win and stunning free-kick!

James Bree admitted he simply didn’t know how to celebrate after seeing his free-kick fly in off the crossbar for only his second ever senior goal during the away victory against Hull City!

Rounding off the afternoon with a third goal following Elijah Adebayo and Harry Cornick’s earlier strikes, the defender admitted that the result was the most important thing at the MKM Stadium.

“We came here and we knew we had to get three points, Bree reflected post-match. “The gaffer said just do anything to win but I think we did more than that. I think we cruised through the game, Eli scoring the first, he set-up Corns’ second really well and then I’ve nipped in with a goal to make it three.

“It’s a shame they scored at the end to be fair because it would have been a 17th clean sheet which obviously is a big thing for us as defenders but the three points is the main thing and that’s put us in a really good position.

There was no recognised centre-half in the starting eleven before Tom Lockyer was introduced in the second half but the 24-year-old said: “It just shows the versality of the squad. I think we have four full-backs and a winger playing in the back five, the last few games we have done a really good job and that’s why it’s such a shame we let them score at the end because it would have been two clean sheets in two games.

“It’s one of those things, injuries happen and you just have to fill in and do the work and I think the lads who have come in have done really well.”

Talk then turned to his superb free-kick which put the cherry on top of a brilliant team performance, to which Bree added: “When I was stood over it I had a really good feeling and it helps when you have a little bit of a cushion in the game. I just thought I’m going to go for it and thankfully it went in the top corner. I don’t score many goals so I’m delighted!

“I’ll be honest it’s weird now when I score. You could see my celebration, I didn’t even know what to do, I just turned around and ran off into the middle of the pitch, the boys were saying ‘why didn’t you run to the fans’ but I’m just not used to it but I’m really happy it went in.”
