Luton Town supporters will have seen their friend and fellow fan Mark Crowther embark on his latest amazing challenge for charity in recent weeks, but this time he is aming to walk a million steps to Hatters matches rather than cycling around the country as has become his norm!
We caught up with Mark as he clocked up the virtual miles this week at David Lloyd gym in Capability Green ahead of his trek through Lancashire to Burnley's Turf Moor on Saturday.
Mark describes his latest Million March Hatters Challenge for us...
"I have chosen to swap two wheels for two legs by walking a million steps following my passion supporting Luton Town, while raising great awareness and donations for four amazing charities.
"This idea came from the Dementia campaign 'Fans V Dementia' to walk to a game, but I also wanted to support a number of great charities that do incredible work in the community which I have detailed below:
Chums Charity support children, young people, adults and families struggling with bereavement, trauma and mental health difficulties, giving hope for the future.
Mind BLMK work with the community to support mental health wellbeing in a safe environment to make sure no one faces mental health problems alone.
Stepping Stones is the club's official charity this year, who are dedicated to enpower women who suffer domestic abuse and are vulnerable and committed to help to make positive life changes.
Dementia UK - During 90 minutes the length of a football game, 30 people in UK develop dementia and effects the ability to remember, speak and think and the support ensures that families effected can be supported by Admiral nurses across the UK.
"The daunting challenge started on 25th January with a 19-mile walk from my home in Milton Keynes to Kenilworth Road stadium, and I have made the journey to the home games against Sheffield United, Plymouth Argyle and the 23-mile walk to Watford.
"The most challenging challenge is the 8-day 230-mile walk to Burnley, which started on Saturday before the Portsmouth game with 3 days and 63 miles to Rugby, before 3 virtual days at David Lloyd Luton, the idea was to ask people to contribute to the steps to help me with my target whilst supporting incredible charities.
"I travel to Stockport for the 19-mile walk to Rochdale, before completing this leg of the challenge with a 16-mile hilly walk to Turf Moor in time for the game.
"I am also making the walk to the Middlesbrough, Leeds United, Bristol City home games before another daunting 7-day, 125-mile walk to Derby County in time to cheer on the team on Friday 18th April, before completing the challenge walking to the final home game against Coventry City on Saturday 26th April. "The support and encouragement and generosity of Luton Town fans and everyone has been inspiring and means so much to me and keeps me going through the difficult times to complete the challenge.
"I will show the heart, determination, desire, passion and never give up attitude that our great team show in the fight to stay in the Championship.
"If you are able to support me it would be really appreciated, and can follow my progress on my socials @markcrowther66 and on the link below, where you can donate." www.justgiving.com/team/markmillionmarchhatterschallenge COYH!
