Last month our Under-18s successfully completed their referee qualifications – an important milestone that marks the very first step on the refereeing ladder.
The course not only enhances the players’ understanding of the Laws of the Game but also helps build stronger relationships with officials, while supporting their wider BTEC studies.
A huge thank you goes to Hugh Gilroy and Paul Howard, two top officials from the EFL, who delivered the course with expertise and passion.
We would also like to extend thanks to our Community Trust, who supported the programme by providing their players so the scholars could complete the practical elements of the qualification.
The Community Trust’s Alex Wallace said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for our youth development players to work alongside the scholars, who they view as great role models.
“Our development boys really look up to the scholars and aspire to one day follow in their footsteps.”
The qualification provides our scholars with valuable skills, confidence, and a deeper appreciation of the role of referees within football. It’s another important step in their journey of development, both within the game and beyond.
Hatters head of education Kobie Dee added: “It’s great to see the lads improving their knowledge, giving back to the community, and learning more about the laws of the game.
“Opportunities like this help them develop as players and as people, preparing them both on and off the pitch.”
Congratulations, lads!
