Luton Town are back on the road as we make the short 35-mile trip to Sixfields Stadium to face Northampton Town in Sky Bet League One (Saturday, 3pm).
Jack Wilshere did not get off to the winning start that he would have wanted against Mansfield Town last weekend but will be hungry to get his first win as our boss at Sixfields.
Kevin Nolan’s Cobblers will want to bounce back themselves after a 1-0 defeat at Reading last Saturday.
Where to watch/follow
Not with us in Northampton? If you are located abroad, you can watch the game live on LTFC+ by either purchasing a Global Hatters membership or an individual match pass.
Our UK and Ireland based fans can listen to Simon Pitts’ live commentary by purchasing an LTFC+ audio pass.
Our dedicated match centre will be providing written coverage on Saturday, with the match centre starting on our website around two hours before kick-off.
The opposition
Saturday’s hosts Northampton had an underwhelming start to the season, failing to win any of their first five games.
Two goals in the first 16 minutes against Exeter gave the Cobblers their first victory of the season.
Since then, Nolan’s side have won six of their last ten games and losing just three, including last weekend’s defeat at Reading.
The danger man for Northampton is their top goalscorer Sam Hoskins (pictured), who has scored twice in his last three games, including in the win at Doncaster.
What the managers say
Jack Wilshere
“It’s been a good week, of course we wanted a better result last weekend, but we’ve learned lots this week and the players have been excellent.
“We will always adapt to the opposition but – and I told the players this – it has to be about us and how we play. It’s how we control the game. Of course, they’ll be challenges during each game and we’ll adapt accordingly.
“But the players have been top since I’ve come in, and this week, where we’ve had a full week, has been great for us to work on things. The players have brought into what we’re trying to do and the way we want to play, which is a nice feeling, but we want to keep the standards high and there have been some really good signs.”
Kevin Nolan
“When we’ve had setbacks, our response has been good, and I’ll be looking for that again on Saturday. We want to put things right from Tuesday and get Sixfields back to the fortress we want it to be.
“It’s another big game and another tough one but I’m hoping we can get back to just being ourselves.
“Jack Wilshere is a really good character, and I’m really pleased for him to get this opportunity at Luton. He’s a good guy and I really enjoyed my time working with him at West Ham. Saturday aside I wish him all the best.
“They are undoubtedly a good side, but Saturday is about what we do and if we put in a positive performance, we have a good chance of getting a positive result.”
