Our Kenilworth Road 120th year celebrations take place at our home this weekend as we host Plymouth Argyle (Saturday, 3pm).
The Hatters host Argyle, which was also the first to be played at Kenilworth Road on 4th September 1905.
Tom Cleverley’s Pilgrims have had a rocky start to life back in League One, starting the season with two wins in their first seven league games.
Where to watch/follow
We are nearing a sell out for this game but, subject to availability, a small selection of tickets will be available over the phone from 10am on Saturday morning.
Not with us at Kenilworth Road? If you are located abroad, you can watch the game live on LTFC+ by either purchasing a Global Hatters membership or an individual match pass.
Our UK and Ireland based fans can listen to Simon Pitts’ live commentary by purchasing an LTFC+ audio pass.
Our dedicated match centre will be providing written coverage on Saturday, with the match centre starting on our website around two hours before kick-off.
Matchday timetable
Ali Al-Hamadi and Hakeem Odoffin will be having a selfie session on the Kenilworth Apron from 1.30pm to 2pm.
As part of the 120th birthday celebrations, our neighbouring Madinah Masjid mosque and members of the Bury Park community will be gifting tea, water and biscuits to Hatters and visiting supporters as they arrive at the stadium.
The opposition
Plymouth’s results so far this season have been below what Cleverley and Pilgrims fans would have hoped for after returning back to League One from the Championship.
Four defeats to start the league season was not the ideal way to kick-off 25/26, but Malachi Boateng’s winner against Blackpool in game five gave our visitors on Saturday their first three points.
A visit to the Cardiff City Stadium has proved to be the toughest test of the season so far in League One and Plymouth felt the raft of that, losing 4-0.
Cleverley’s side did bounce back from that defeat, beating Cheltenham in the Vertu Trophy before overcoming Stockport County at Home Park last weekend.
What the managers said
Matt Bloomfield
“Plymouth, like ourselves, had a big turnaround in the summer so Tom has tried to get his group together and settling them down into a system and way of playing that he believes in.
“They are integrating a lot of new players, but they beat Stockport who we know are a strong side in this division, so it’s going to be a real stern test for us. They have good players, so we have to be ready.
“League One will give us many different challenges across the season and we need to be ready for that by countering those challenges with the right players for what we feel is right in each game.”
Tom Cleverley
“They've got an incredible attacking unit; getting the ball in from wide areas from Shayden Morris on one side and [Millenic] Alli on the other, the two dangerous wide players.
“They've got a collection of strikers to pick from, who you could make an argument are all proven at Championship level.
“It's going to be a big test. We have to defend our box, but we also have to have the personality to put our own stamp on the game. I think we can go there, we can have good time on the ball where there's good confidence running through the team. I think you saw that in our attacking play last week.
“We have to be more ruthless and clinical than we have been in our three previous away games. It’s a really important game for us.”
Team news
The boss confirmed that central defensive duo Mads Andersen and Teden Mengi are available for selection, further boosting the strength in depth in defence.
However, the Hatters will continue to be without the services of Isaiah Jones, Hakeem Odoffin, Jacob Brown, Reuell Walters and new signing Ali Al-Hamadi.
Last time out
The Hatters cruised to victory in our last League One outing when we took all three points home from Burton a fortnight ago.
A first Luton goal for Lasse Nordås opened the scoring before Millenic Alli and Zack Nelson goals either side of half-time capped off a tree-mendous away win.
