Sunday is a chance to show appreciation for a campaign in which our management, backroom staff, players and supporters have created so many memories and provided inspiration for the Club’s future, making many new friends along the way.
We saw that last Saturday when not only our travelling fans stayed behind in an emotional display of support, as at every game whether we’ve won, drawn or lost, but the West Ham fans applauded us off, too.
This Sunday afternoon calls for a party atmosphere, a family fun day of reflection of our pride at competing in the top-flight for the first time in three decades.
Wear orange. Show the world that our future is bright and that this season has been yet another – the eighth in a row – of progress to our final league position.
PRE-MATCH
We want you to get to the Old Girl early. Get your curry from Norm’s. Have an ice cream. Get your face painted. Take advantage of the two-for-one offer on drinks.
Be in your seats early to see the Loyal Luton Supporters’ Club Player of the Year trophy presented at the end of the warm-up, along with the Luton Town Supporters’ Trust presenting their Player of the Year trophy to Ross Barkley, and Bobbers Travel Club Away Player of the Year to Teden Mengi.
There will also be a period of applause for supporters of both clubs to pay tribute to Viv Busby, a player who served the Hatters and Fulham with distinction for three years each in the 1970s, and who sadly passed away last week.
Then bring the noise and sing your hearts out one final time as we look to go into the summer break with a few more goals and three points to end the season on a high.
POST-MATCH
After the game, the Hatters players and staff will join in a lap of appreciation around the Kenilworth Road pitch to show their thanks for your outstanding support over the past ten months.
Immediately after the final whistle, they will return to the dressing room for a short period of time to collect their families, with their partners and young children wanting to share in the moment.
We respectfully ask all supporters to remain in your seats and remind everyone that entering the pitch is against the law.
Anyone doing so will face a stadium ban and potential criminal proceedings, and this could also impact the Club financially, as was the case following last year’s play-off semi-final against Sunderland when we were fined £32,000 for post-match pitch incursions.
As with every season finale, there will be fond farewells – notably to our two loanees, Issa Kaboré and Albert Sambi Lokonga, who have given so much in their time as Hatters – but this will only be able to take place if the pitch remains clear.
Please show the players and staff the respect they so richly deserve, as well as your fellow supporters, and sign off our Premier League season in style.
