Options available to Edwards for Bolton tie

Rob Edwards says he will name a side that “will be best to win the game” as his side take on League One promotion chasers Bolton Wanderers in Sunday’s FA Cup third round tie.

A sold-out Kenilworth Road awaits and the Town go into the tie against Ian Evatt’s Trotters with a squad missing only two players, Marvelous Nakamba and Tom Lockyer.

Should he wish, Edwards will be able to select Issa Kaboré with the defender not due to join up with Burkina Faso’s Africa Cup of Nations squad until after the fixture.

Friday’s training session saw defenders Dan Potts and Reece Burke back in training, but Sunday’s game is likely too soon to come for either player, according to the manager.

However, given the squad strength, Edwards said, at his pre-match press conference, he has “17 or 18 genuine starters” in contention for the tie.
