Belgium international Albert Sambi Lokonga will be gaining more Premier League appearance after joining the Hatters on loan from Arsenal.

The 23-year-old is Rob Edwards’ 12th summer signing and will be looking to add to his 34 Premier League appearances that he has accumulated with the Gunners and Crystal Palace, who impressed with on loan last term.

The all-action midfielder featured 15 times for the Gunners last season – most notably starting every game in their successful Europa League campaign.

Town boss Rob Edwards said: “It’s an exciting signing, he comes with lots of Premier League experience and has brilliant pedigree. I met him and had a really good chat, he’s hungry and wants to play football.

“He knows and understands what we are about, he believes that he can help us and I think it’s a really good fit.

“Another player for our squad who has Premier League quality, we’ll get him now for two weeks during the international break for him to bed in and I’m excited to have him.

“He’s a midfielder who really looks after the ball, he gives us stability to play in a double pivot if needed, but he can also run on and play as a number eight.

“He’ll give us more control in the middle of the pitch during certain moments of games, but he’s someone who hopefully we can help develop as well.”

Albert Sambi Lokongo – the story so far

His performances last season for Arsenal and Palace followed a promising debut season in north London in 2021/22 during which he played 24 times in all competitions – including 12 of the Gunners' first 13 Premier League matches – and made his senior international debut for Belgium.

Highly rated from a young age in his home country, Lokongo spent more than a decade with Belgian giants Anderlecht before joining Arsenal in July 2021. He made his first-team debut aged 18 in December 2017 and went on to represent his hometown club 78 times in all competitions. He already had experience in European competition when he joined the Gunners, and was a regular under then-manager Vincent Kompany in his final season with the club.

We wish you a warm welcome to Kenilworth Road, Albert!
