Burke to miss Villa trip

The Hatters will be without Reece Burke for Sunday’s trip to Aston Villa after the defender sustained a hamstring injury in last weekend’s 2-2 draw at Nottingham Forest.

Burke joins fellow defender Amari’i Bell on the sidelines with a hamstring issue, however the Jamaican international is progressing in his recovery according to manager Rob Edwards but the Villa fixture will come too soon.

There was better news in the defensive department with Gabe Osho playing an hour for the development squad on Tuesday and is expected to once again be part of the squad having been an unused substitute at Forest.

Edwards also had good news regarding the fitness of Jordan Clarke and hopes the midfielder may be fit for a return just before the next international break in mid-November.

At his pre-match press conference, the boss looked ahead to the Premier League clash against the side that gave him his first professional contract and one who have won their last 11 matches on home soil.

“It’s not scary,” he said when asked if he and his side feared heading to the West Midlands. “We’re well aware of their threats, that they’re scoring goals and playing real attacking, fluid football.

“But we’ve prepared we’re looking forward to the challenge.”
